Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder

Prof. Dr Syed Irfan Hyder has a wide experience in academic leadership, consultancy, entrepreneurial ventures, trainings, research and in the design and implementation of innovative programs and as a multi-disciplinary speaker. He provides consultancy for entrepreneurial and personal visions, students/parental counseling and school education.

Dr Irfan Hyder had been VC at Ziauddin University. He did his MS (1989) and PhD (1994) from University of Texas at Austin. He also has BE (1985) from NED, Karachi and MBA (1987) from IBA, Karachi.

As Rector and earlier as Dean CBM & CES at IoBM, he led the transformation of IoBM into a strong research oriented HEI with emphasis on experiential learning and multi-disciplinary focus. As Dean Academics & VP of PAF KIET, he led the growth of BE, BS, BBA, MBA, BCA, MS and PhD in the areas of management sciences, computer science, Electronic Engineering, ERP, Islamic Finance and Education Leadership. As Deputy Director of IBA he led the growth of CCS with launch and growth of BBA-MIS & BCS programs and various consultancy projects.

As director of L2L (Learn to Learn) Academy & Ahsan Memorial, he is pioneering the introduction of Project Based Learning (PBL). He founded ePatterns, a Software House and architected its ERP solution.

Dr Irfan Hyder has been a regular speaker at scores of national and international conferences. He has over 25 years experience of IT consultancy, management for organizations such as Pakistan Steel, POF, Oxford University Press, AGPR, CBR, EPB, ICMA, KIIT and MoST.

Dr Irfan has served at various national level forums for the development of National IT Policy during 1997-98 and later in 2000-01. He was the head of E-Commerce Task Force of MoST from 1999-2001. He had been member of selection board of SBP. He has served on the boards of KIET, UIT, KIIT, IoBM etc.

He supervises research in education, entrepreneurship, software engineering, and quality systems. He has over twenty international publications in reputed journals and proceedings. Current research interests are concentrated in qualitative and mixed method research in areas of marketing and leadership.
