Computer Science students visited Indus Hospital to explore the role of IT in the healthcare sector

A group of motivated and enthusiastic students from the Department of Computer Science at Salim Habib University embarked on an invaluable industrial visit to Indus University Hospital located in Korangi, Karachi, on January 31, 2025. The visit aimed to explore the role of information technology in the healthcare sector and its impact on patient outcomes.

The study tour provided students with in-depth insights into how electronic healthcare records (EHRs) and patient management systems enhance patient care and operational efficiency. During the visit, the students explored various medical software applications and evaluated emerging technologies, such as telemedicine and AI in diagnostics, and their effects on future healthcare delivery, which also sparked interest among them in pursuing careers combining computer science and healthcare technology. Additionally, the participants were briefed on the data management practices in healthcare and the critical importance of data security and privacy in managing patient information.
