World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment which is held on the second Thursday of October each year.
The theme for this year is "Love Your Eyes" and it’s a great time to show our eyes some love.
Something we all might take for granted is our gift of sight. Most blindness and vision impairment is preventable or treatable with early detection. 39 million people worldwide are blind and 246 million have a moderate or severe visual impairment. These visual impairments can be conditions such as refractive error, cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic or hypertensive complications, etc.
Do not ignore even minor eye ailments and follow treatment advice for any medications prescribed by the eye care practitioner. This world sight day, pledge to love your eyes.
