All the ills of any nation start with the lack of education and unfortunately Pakistan is one of the nations where the literacy rate is lower than 45%. Realizing this weakness of our nation, it has been my lifelong passion and desire to do something about it. Therefore, I decided that I should put my resources and efforts to contribute towards the development of education in Pakistan. Despite numerous hurdles and loss of precious years, I continued striving to set up the Salim Habib University (formerly Barrett Hodgson University) in Karachi.
It is a proud moment for all of us, especially for me, that the Salim Habib University, Karachi is now ready to open its doors for admission. One thing I repeat that we all have to bear in mind, the lack of education facilities and or its accessibility to some individuals is the primary cause of any nation’s underdevelopment.
“An illiterate man is like a blind person in a dark room who will never see the light of the day”
I wish the University a lot of success.
