World Food Day is celebrated on the 16th of October to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all. The theme of World Food Day this year is "our actions are our future - Better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life.
Together we can reduce food waste and world hunger by embracing sustainable practices. More than 3 billion people can’t afford a healthy diet. Implementing a sustainable food system is one way in which sufficient, nutritious and safe foods can become available at an affordable price to everyone.
The food on our plate is something that we should be thankful for. Let’s value and appreciate it. Don’t waste your food and be wise. Let’s be part of the change in our daily actions to reduce food waste. The future of food is in our hands.
