July 28 is the birth anniversary of Dr. Baruch Samuel Blumberg, who discovered the hepatitis B virus in 1967 and also made the first vaccine for the same in 1969, so it is no surprise that the day has been marked as World Hepatitis Day.
World Hepatitis Day is held to encourage people to come together to fight against hepatitis, to educate the public about the causes and consequences of this disease, and to pledge to not surrender to it, even though millions of people are suffering from it.
Today, let’s stand with the patients and victims of hepatitis and their families.
