The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Salim Habib University, held its Final Year Project Exhibition on Monday, January 22, 2024.

The showcase exhibited the incredible projects our Biomedical Engineering students have designed, which awed the audience with their ingenuity.

Winners included:

1st Position - 'Cardiac Waveform Monitor: Machine Learning Based Arrhythmia Detector' by Zuraiz Baig, Saba Fatima, and Saad Imtiaz, supervised by Prof. Dr. Zeeshan Ul Haque, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, and Engr. Gul Munir, Lecturer Biomedical Engineering

2nd Position – ‘Hand-e-Ssist: Automated Therapeutic Arm’ by Adam Rafiq, Mudassir Rafiq, and Mahnoor Maqsood, supervised by Engr. Hassan Ali and Engr. Tooba Khan, Biomedical Engineering Lecturers 

3rd Position – ‘Fabrication of Sodium Alginate Microparticles Embedded in PVA Hydrogel for Tissue Regeneration’ by Amna Feroze, Savaira Noman, and Iqra Hanif, supervised by Mr. M. Wasim Munir, Assistant Professor Biomedical Engineering, and Engr. Abdul Moiz and Engr. Tooba Khan, Biomedical Engineering Lecturers 

The evaluators for the competition were Dr. M. Fahad Shamim, Assistant Professor, Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology,  Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, Engr. Ghulam Mustufa, Senior Engineer, Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), Karachi, and Engr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Senior Lead Engineer, Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi.

Notably present were Mr. Zafar Ahmed Khan, Chairman, Town Municipal Corporation, Model Colony, Karachi, Mr. M. Talha Khan, Vice Chairman, Town Municipal Corporation, Model Colony, Karachi, who also belongs to Jang Group, and Mr. Salman Hyder, Director Admin & Legal, Town Municipal Corporation, Model Colony, Karachi.
