The 1st International Conference on Emerging Trends in Biomedical Engineering, Science and Technology (ICETBEST 2024), organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Salim Habib University, in realization of the vision of the University's Honourable Chancellor and Conference Patron-in-Chief Dr. Iram Afaq, came to a conclusion on February 29, 2024.

The second and final day of the conference, attended by dedicated delegates and participants from all over Pakistan as well as abroad, included technical sessions, oral presentations, poster presentations, project demonstrations, keynote speeches, and hands-on workshops, all led by international and national experts. 

The conference was declared officially closed in a ceremony at which addresses were given by Vice Chancellor SHU and Conference Patron Prof. Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Khan and Conference Secretary Engr. Muhammad Shaheer Mirza.

Chief Guest Engr. Muhammad Najeeb Haroon, Chairman, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), also addressed the audience. Guests of Honour Engr. Farooq Arbi, General Secretary IEP Karachi Centre, and Mr. Masood Ahmad, Chairman HDAP and CEO, Hospicare Systems, also spoke at the ceremony, as did Dr. Rooh Khurram, Staff Scientist, KAUST Supercomputer Laboratory (KSL), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Mohsin Ahmed Shaikh, Computational Scientist, KAUST Supercomputer Laboratory (KSL), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia.

Following the talks, shields and certificates were awarded to delegates and recipients of the Best Poster, Best Paper, and Best Project awards. The Vote of Thanks was then presented by Dr. M. Hussain Habib, Executive Director Education, Marketing, HR & Admin, Salim Habib University.

Notably present at the Closing Ceremony were Dean Faculty of Engineering SHU and Conference Convener Prof. Dr. M. Zeeshan Ul Haque, COO TSHEF & SHU Mr. Muhammad Abbas, Registrar SHU Prof. Dr. Kaleem Raza Khan, Deans and Directors from SHU, and dignitaries and personalities of renown from the fields of education, industry, and science all over Pakistan and abroad, as well as faculty members and students of Salim Habib University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering.

ICETBEST was characterized by intellectual discourse and scientific breakthroughs with the potential to change the future of healthcare.
