The students of second and zero semesters of BHU PharmD program visited Martin Dow Limited on October 19th, 2018, under the supervision of Dr. Ghazala Ishrat, Assistant Professor. This study tour was arranged to give students an exposure of the Pharmaceutical Industry, as part of their curriculum. The students observed functioning of various departments, like tablet and capsule manufacturing, packaging of medicines, warehouse which was handling raw & packaging materials and finished goods, different equipment and machinery including gral mixer, fluid bed drier, capsule filling and blistering machine, compression machines etc.

They also visited engineering and utilities’ department where they were explained functions of managing HVAC, electricity, gas, steam, differential pressures and lighting systems. The students also learnt the treatment of boring water to get purified water. They also witnessed treatment and recycling of waste water at a state-of-the-art water treatment plant to get clean water.

A quality management talk was also given to the students explaining various activities to control the quality of medicines at Martin Dow. A delicious lunch was also served at the end of the session to the students and they were very excited and motivated with their first experience in a pharmaceutical industry.
