The three days mega sports tournament “The Salim Habib Inter-University Squash Championship 2018“ finally came to an end. The tournament was sponsored by the Superpower Motorcycle and National Bank of Pakistan, and organized by the Sports Society at Barrett Hodgson University, from 12 – 14 December, 2018. Six other prestigious universities in Karachi; Iqra University – IU, Ilma University, Institute of Business Management, KASB Institute of Technology, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technologyand The Millennium University College TMUC Karachi participated in this tournament.

Students of all the participating universities showed great enthusiasm and energy. The Salim Habib campus of BHU located in Korangi Creek was bubbling with liveliness and exuberance. The crowd and supporters of other players were also welcomed at BHU to cheer out their favorites and they were all kudos for BHU’s squash complex as it is first class facility.

The winner finalist of the Squash Championship, Mr. Owais Rasheed from The Millennium University College TMUC was awarded the Superpower Motorcycle and Rs. 10,000 cash prize, while the runner up, Mr. Saad Abdullah from Iqra University was awarded the shield and Rs. 5,000 cash prize. The semi-finalists of Iqra University and Ilma University were also awarded the cash prize.

The chief guest, Dr. Farhan Essa Abdullah, CEO & Chairman of Dr Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre awarded the cash prize to the students of BHU Sports Society for organizing such a mega event. Mr. Iqbal Wahid, senior Vice President and head CSR at National Bank of Pakistan along with three other prominent representatives of NBP were the guest of honor of today’s show. Dr. Manzoor Khalidi, the Vice Chancellor BHU, appreciated the efforts of BHU Sports Society and Registrar office for taking such a great initiative. Dr. Nazir Ahmed, advisor Sports Society thanked all the participating universities, chief guests, guest of honor and all the distinguished guests for their participation and valuable support. It is also pertinent to mention that four players of the tournament have been playing squash at National level and also represented Pakistan at the International level.
