The Faculty of Pharmacy at Salim Habib University celebrated World Pharmacists Day on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 with this year’s theme of ‘Pharmacists: Meeting global health needs’.

Mr. Abdullah Feroz, Chairman & Managing Director of Efroze Group of Companies, graciously accepted to be the Chief Guest of the event. 

World Pharmacists Day celebrations were complimented by talks by eminent experts who highlighted the significance of the day and discussed a range of pharmacy-centered topics. These experts included Dr. M. A. Rubb, Senior Pharmacist and Principal, Ikhlas Group of Colleges, Prof. Dr. Sumbul Shamim, Principal, College of Pharmacy, DOW University of Health Sciences, Ms. Ruby Saeed, Senior General Manager Quality Operations and Research & Development, Herbion Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd., Dr. Aslam Shah, Chief of Pharmacy Services, Indus Hospital & Health Network, and Dr. Zaad Hashmi, Head of Foodpanda Pharmacies. 

These enlightening talk sessions were followed by an exhibition of the innovative research projects prepared by PharmD students.

The ceremony was also commemorated with a World Pharmacists Day cake cutting by distinguished guests, and the announcement of our new undergraduate program of Cosmetic Sciences, within the umbrella of Pharmacy, by our very own Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder.

A Panel Discussion was also organized, participated in by top experts from the pharmacy profession, including Prof. Dr. Ghazala Hafeez Rizwani, Dean Research Institute, Hamdard University, Prof. Dr. Fayyaz Vaid, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Iqbal Azhar, Chairperson, Department of Pharmacognosy, University of Karachi, Dr. Obaid Ali, Lead, Strategic Office of Science & Technology, Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, Dr. Munir Anwar, Senior Director Operations, ATCO Laboratories Ltd., Dr. Iftikhar Jaffri, GMP and Quality Consultant in pharmaceutical industries, Dr. Zaad Hashmi, and Dr. Arif Ali Arain, Senior Manager and Head of Pharmacy Services, Indus Hospital & Health Network.
