SHU-SGS Seminar at 29th Textile Asia Conference

The 29th Textile Asia Conference: Pakistan’s largest textile industry event, with Salim Habib University (SHU) as a proud Conference Partner, was a three-day mega-event held from April 12 to 14, 2025, at the Karachi Expo Center. The event attracted prominent textile delegates from Pakistan and other leading Asian textile nations.

On Day 3 of the conference, Salim Habib University’s Faculties of Pharmacy and Science hosted a seminar titled Research and Analyses in Textile: Academia-Industry Linkages, in collaboration with SGS Pakistan Pvt Ltd, which featured a talk by Prof. Dr. M. Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Director ORIC, SHU, on the Role of Microbes and their Enzymes in Textile Industry as well as a note by Ms. Qurat ul ain Mateen, Deputy Manager BD, Health & Nutrition, SGS Pakistan. Our Biosciences student, Maheen Aamir, also presented her research via a poster presentation at the seminar.

Other key highlights of the event included a Welcome Address by Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Vice Chancellor SHU, who also emphasized how collaborative efforts between academia and industry can drive innovation in the textile industry. A vote of thanks was also delivered by Mr. Azhar Rizvi, Professor of Practice and Director, Center for Policy Research and Sustainability: Think Tank, SHU.

Representatives from the Connectivity and Products Department at SGS Pakistan were also present at the event.
