TechNexus 2.0: SHU Hosts All-Pakistan Open AI Challenge

TechNexus 2.0 – All Pakistan Open AI Challenge, a grand event organized by The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Salim Habib University (SHU), in collaboration with the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group Karachi Section, was successfully held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

The competition brought together talented innovators and AI enthusiasts from across Pakistan to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills by utilizing OpenAI platforms. Out of the many participating teams, Team Semi Circle from Iqra University was the Winner, while Team MinervAI Innovators from Salim Habib University secured the Runner-up position.

The esteemed panel of judges included renowned leaders from academia and industry. These experts included Mr. Muhammad Arshi Wasiqui, General Manager MEA Operations, ThreatCure, Mr. Hammal Farooq, Digital Marketing Specialist, Koder Labs, Mr. Haris Ahmed, MLOPs Consultant, Universal Group of Companies, Mr. Rashid Ali, Convo, Mr. Shoaib Saleem, Habib Bank Limited, Engr. Mudassir Majeed, Computer Vision Engineer, Lambda Theta, Mr. Furqan Ali, Lead Service Engineer, Medline Technologies (Pvt.) Ltd., Mr. Shahrukh, Senior Business Intelligence Consultant, Blutech Consulting (Pvt) Ltd., Dr. Razia Maroof, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Iqra University, Dr. Ovais Akthar, Senior Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, Bahria University, and Dr. Lubna Aziz, Head of AI Department, Iqra University.

Honourable judges from SHU for the competitions were Prof. Dr. Sheeraz Arif, Dean, Faculty of Information Technology, Dr. Shahid Munir, Associate Professor, and Ms. Saadia Karim, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science.

Notably present were Prof. Dr. Irfan Hyder, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zeeshan Ul Haque, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Faculty members, and members of the University management, faculty, and staff.
