Biography
Dr. Muhammad Abubakar is currently serving as Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Salim Habib University, Karachi. He has more than 10 years of diversified academic, research, hospital, and community pharmacy experience.
He completed his Ph.D. in Pharmacy Practice from the University of Balochistan, where his research focused on predictors of poor treatment outcomes among extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) patients in Pakistan through a nationwide study. He also holds an MPhil in Pharmacy Practice from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, where he conducted a randomized controlled trial evaluating pharmacist-led interventions in diabetes management.
Dr. Abubakar has published extensively in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals, including high-impact indexed journals. His research primarily focuses on infectious diseases (particularly tuberculosis), clinical outcomes, patient-reported outcomes, pharmacist-led interventions, drug-related problems, and pharmaco-epidemiological research. He has supervised a large number of undergraduate and MPhil research projects and actively contributes to clinical pharmacy education and research capacity building.
He has received multiple academic distinctions, including a Bronze Medal in Pharm-D and an Indigenous PhD Scholarship from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. He is a dedicated, research-oriented, and student-centered academic who strongly believes in promoting evidence-based pharmacy practice and rational drug use in Pakistan.
