Industrial Symposium on Medical Device Manufacturing & Commercialization

The Industrial Symposium on Medical Device Manufacturing & Commercialization, organized by the Center for Medical Device Innovation & Research, Faculty of Engineering, Salim Habib University, in collaboration with the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Karachi Section and Saman-e-Shifa Foundation (SSF), was held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Auditorium A, Fatima Business School.

The symposium served as a dedicated platform for SHU students to present their innovative projects before industry professionals, receive expert feedback, and explore pathways toward commercialization. Out of the five projects displayed, two were selected to advance to the commercialization stage, a significant outcome that reflects both the quality of student work and the value of structured industry engagement.

A key highlight of the event was a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Bridging Academia and Industry: Preparing Students for the Future of Engineering,” which brought together voices from academia and industry to address one of the most pressing challenges in engineering education. In addition, the event featured one-on-one mentorship sessions with more than ten industry professionals, giving students the opportunity to engage directly with practitioners, seek career guidance, discuss their goals, and gain practical insights to navigate the corporate world.
