We are proud to announce that the Aga Khan University Centre for Innovation in Medical Education (AKU-CIME), in collaboration with Salim Habib University (SHU), has won 3rd Place in the Healthcare Innovation category of the IEEEP Fair 2024, a national-level engineering exhibition organized by the Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Pakistan (IEEEP), from September 10-12, 2024 at the Karachi Expo Centre.The award was presented for the Bronch-Box, an advanced bronchoscopy trainer for healthcare practitioners and faculty members designed and built from scratch by the expert technologists and engineers at CIME in partnership with our Biomedical Engineering students Mirza Areeb Baig and Usama Javed.The invention earned third place among more than 90 entries in the Healthcare Innovation category from institutions across Pakistan, competing with over 285 brands and companies participating from Pakistan, China, Poland, Malaysia, Brazil, Germany, and the Netherlands, among others.This collaboration between CIME and SHU proves that partnerships between academia and healthcare can drive groundbreaking innovations in Pakistan, and we look forward to everything that it will undoubtedly accomplish.
