World Food Safety Day, observed annually on June 7, is a day devoted to raising awareness of the correct ways food should be handled, prepared, and stored, and also of the risks associated with not doing so properly.There are numerous foodborne illnesses that are detrimental to human health and to the ecosystem at large, and the only way to prevent them is to control foodborne pathogens and to minimize their effects, for which food safety and hygiene is essential.
