Various collections of library materials are placed in their own distinguished area. Some library material is available for borrowing, whereas, some can only be referred to on the library premise, known as Reference Material.
The type of collection, its functions and usage are available to facilitate users in retrieving the library materials. Please visit the Library WebOPAC.
Unique online and physical collections on specific subjects, in distinct formats, and in special archives are also available.
The collections available in the library are as follows:
Open Access Collection
The books in this collection cover various subjects and fields of interest which may be borrowed by all members.
Reference Collection
This collection can be accessed with the help of library staff only. It consists of encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, bibliographies, statistics, indexes, and so on. Materials of this collection can only be referred to within the library premises.
Special Collection
The Special Collection is located on Levels 1 & 2 and generally can be borrowed only for 2 hours through the Library Circulation Counter. This collection is divided into several further collections, as given below:

General & Recreational Collection
The General & Recreational Collection is located on Level 3 and can be borrowed through the Library Circulation Counter. It covers general subjects like Philosophy, Social Sciences, History, Islamic Studies, and Pakistan Studies, as well as recreational subjects like Art & Craft, Literature, and Fiction.
Archival Collection
The Archival Collection is located on Level 3 and consists of items that are classified as non- borrowable. Users can use these only on library premises. The Archival Collection includes:
- Research Collection
- Annual Report Collection
- Serial Collection (Retrospective)
- Newspaper Collection (Retrospective)
Pharmacy, Life Sciences & Engineering Collection
This collection has been developed to cover a range of topics related to Pharmacy, Biosciences and Engineering. It is located on Level 2.
Serial Collection
This collection is located on Level 1 and consists of current and latest journals, magazines, bulletins, newsletters, and newspapers. It can only be referred to in the library.
Multimedia Collection
The Multimedia Collection is available on Level 1 and can be issued only by the library staff on request. A selection of materials is offered in a variety of formats, such as CD-ROM, DVD and so on. It can be borrowed according to the user’s qualifications and requirements, through the Circulation Counter, which is also located on Level 1.
Restricted Collection
This collection is for reference use only. Users need to get special approval in order to access the collection. For the time being, all materials are located at the Circulation Unit on Level 2 of the Library.
