Renew & Request
The Library provides convenient options for renewing borrowed materials and requesting items currently on loan to support your academic needs.
📧How to Renew Library Items
Library items can be renewed online via email.
To request a renewal:
- Send an email to [email protected]
- Your name and library ID
- Title(s) of the item(s)
- Accession number or barcode
If the renewal is approved, you will receive a confirmation email from the Library.
🔁Renewal Conditions
- Items may be renewed any number of times, provided:
- The item is not requested or recalled by another user
- The renewal does not exceed the maximum renewal period
- Renewal is allowed until the due date reaches the maximum renewal limit calculated from the initial check-out date
- Overdue items may also be renewed, however:
- Any accumulated fines must be paid upon return
- Renewals are not permitted beyond the expiry date of a user’s library account (Student or Staff)
⛔Items Not Eligible for Renewal
The following materials cannot be renewed:
- Reserve books
- Reference materials
- Audio-Visual (AV) materials
- 3-hour loan items
- 2-day loan items
📅Loan Periods & Renewal Limits
📘Loan Items and Loan Period
- Students: 7 days
- Faculty: Up to one semester
- Staff: 15 days
* Loans cannot be renewed beyond the maximum renewal period calculated from the initial check-out date.
⚠️Important Loan Notices
- All borrowed items are due for return one week before the start of a new semester
- All loans are subject to recall at any time
- Late returns are liable to fines as per Library policy
Term Loan Renewal (Faculty)
- Renewal of term loan items is available one month before the due date
- Renewal is subject to:
- No pending requests
- No recall on the item
- If approved, the new due date will be the next term loan due date
Requesting a Checked-out Item
You may request an item currently on loan to another user.

- AV Reserve materials
- 3-hour loan items
- 2-day loan items

- Locate the required item through the Library catalogue
- Visit the Library
- Follow the instructions provided at the Library Service Desk
